Festival opens in May Day sunshine!

The sun was shining, May Day madrigals were sung and Various Voices London 2009 was launched!

Sandi Toksvig compered with her usual sharp wit and style (her pink jacket was a joy to behold!) She introduced Deputy Mayor Richard Barnes to officially open the Festival before Lesley Garrett thrilled the crowds with "You'll Never Walk Alone" and led the massed choirs in the Festival song - "Here's Where I Stand"
