Hosted by audacious performers the deeply glamorous Timberlina and the colourfully kitsch Lorraine Bowen and complete with on-stage band – The Big Gay Sing is led by Charlie Beale, Musical Director of the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus and Co-Artistic Director of Various Voices. This fun packed, glitter-tastic sing-a-long evening features all-time favourite gay anthems from ABBA, Kylie, Sinatra, Judy, Barbra plus many, many more. A giant screen of lyrics plus singers from the participating choirs will be at the mikes to help lead the singing for this all you can eat show tunes buffet! Dress up and overindulge!!

Timberlina
Timberlina’s spontaneous wit and banter has delighted a luxury assortment of crowds from such salubrious outposts as Liverpool day centres to the glittery South Bank Centre via the classy Royal Court Theatre bar to her spiritual home- London’s gritty cabaret hub, the Royal Vauxhall Tavern. New York, Paris or Suffolk Village fete, as host, the furry Godmother of cabaret provides an inimitable and delicious cocktail of rants, song, make’n’do and environmental awareness. When not entertaining, Ms T enjoys exploring the crafts of home-making and listening to Radio 4.

Lorraine Bowen
Lorraine Bowen is a quirky, cabaret performer on the London scene and is much loved at Duckie and beyond. Passionate about singing, she runs Sing a Long a Sandwich in Brighton for those workers dying to have a sing-a-long in their lunch hour.

Charlie Beale
Charlie Beale is currently full-time Artistic Director of the 250-strong New York City Gay Men’s Chorus, and made his sell-out Carnegie Hall debut in 2007. A Cambridge organ scholar with a training in church music, in 1989, he won the Rose Morris Prize as a composer-arranger and jazz pianist at London’s Guildhall School of Music and Drama. More recently, jazz and choral directing have become Charlie’s main performing outlets. Before his appointment in New York, he was Musical Director of the London Gay Men’s Chorus from 2002 to 2007. He is currently an active Practitioner member of the Association of British Choral Directors and co-author of Popular Voiceworks (2008), a songbook which received the award for the MIA’s best Pop Music Publication of 2008. In demand as an educator and adjudicator internationally, he has given seminars on classical and jazz piano in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and his current adopted home, the US.
